Yamaha Rhino Recall Cases

March 31, 2009—Yamaha announced it was suspending sales of its Rhino off-road vehicles and recommended modifications and repairs to vehicles already sold.

The announcement comes on the heels of an investigation by the U.S. Product Safety Commission assessing the safety of the Rhino vehicles. The agency has investigated more than 46 deaths associated with Rhino off-road vehicles, most involving rollover accidents.

The CPSC has recommended that owners discontinue use of Rhino vehicles until the repairs have been made.

Repair Program Implemented to Correct Defects Contact Us

Yamaha has implemented changes to correct problems with existing Rhino vehicles. The free repairs involve adding a spacer on the rear wheels, removing an anti-sway bar, installing half-doors and providing additional passenger handholds.

The following vehicles are included in the repair program:

  • Yamaha Rhino 450
  • Yamaha Rhino 660
  • Yamaha Rhino 770

Under pressure from the CPSC, Yamaha agreed to suspend sales of these Rhino vehicles until repairs are made to the unsold vehicles.
